The Mentorship Program is limited to a very few applicants at any one time. The following questions are designed to help me understand your development thus far as a photographer and to assess whether I can help you progress further. Upon receipt of your application, I may have further questions and I may contact you by email or phone. Your privacy is important to me. Once a decision is made about your acceptance into the Mentorship Program, your application will be shredded.

Tell me about your photography so far. How long have you been making images? What kind of photography do you enjoy?

Would you consider yourself an amateur, an advanced amateur, semi-professional, or professional?

Tell me about any courses you have taken related to photography and describe the course structure, duration, and what you learned. Include all continuing education, workshops. post-secondary programs, turoring, etc. Include approximate dates, if you can.

Describe any other courses or programs NOT directly related to photography that you have taken that you feel have helped your development as a photographer. These could be fine arts programs, creative writing, music, screen printing, anything at all that you feel has contributed to your growth as a photographer.

Briefly describe the equipment you own.

Do you print, mount, and or/frame, or publish your own work? Please provide details.

Have you exhibited your work in a public place? If so, please tell me where and under what circumstances.

Do you belong to a camera club? If so, which one and how long have you been a member?

What other hobbies do you have? What other leisure interests do you pursue other than photography?

You are applying for a mentorship program which will require a commitment of time and resources on your part, so photography must be important to you. Tell me why photography is important to you.

I would like to review some of your work. Where can I see the kinds of images you are making? Do you have an online gallery account that I could visit?

Of the photographs you have posted or have available to view, tell me which images you believe are your strongest and why. Describe what you intent was when you made these images.

Tell me about some of the masters of photography, or photographers currently working, that you admire or follow or aspire to emulate and why.

And finally, take a few minutes and describe to me why this Mentorship Program is important to you. Describe where you see yourself as a photographer a year from now. Also, describe briefly what you hope to achieve from this mentoring relationship.
